| Q. What is the difference between type I and type II CompactFlash? |
(Posted: 1st Nov, 2004) |
A. We are often asked what the difference is between a Compact Flash Memory Card Type I and Type II. The only difference between them is the card thickness.
CF Type I cards are 3.3 mm thick and CF Type II cards are 5mm thick. A CF Type I card will operate in a CF Type I or CF Type II slot. A CF Type II card will only fit in a CF Type II slot. The electrical interfaces are identical. |

| Q. What is Ultra Compact Flash and will it work in my camera? |
(Posted: 10th Nov, 2004) |
A. With a minimum write speed of 9 megabytes per second (MB/sec.), and a minimum read speed of 10MB/sec., the Ultra II Compact Flash card is the fastest performing flash memory card in the world.
The cards are fully compatible and interchangeable with all Compact Flash digital cameras, card readers and adapters.
The Ultra II card is targeted at the professional digital camera photographer and digital camera enthusiasts who use 4 megapixel or higher resolution digital cameras which require significantly faster digital film cards.
The ULTRA II offers write speeds up to 8 times that of traditional Compact Flash cards and is currently the fastest Compact Flash card on the market today.
The increasing megapixel count of digital cameras can result in extremely large image files which lengthens the time required for the camera to capture the image and save it to the digital film card. SanDisk has designed its new SanDisk Ultra II CF cards so that large image files can be saved in less time and photographers can take additional pictures more quickly.
The faster read speed allows photographers to view images more quickly on their camera LCD screens after taking pictures, and they also will be able to upload images to their computer much faster.
Cor Vos, an internationally-famed photographer and an official photographer at the recent Tour de France bike race, used a new SanDisk Ultra II card to shoot the race. "With this new SanDisk Ultra II card, " said Vos, "I was able to take pictures so rapidly that I captured every fast-moving scene that I wanted. Previously when I shot the race, I sometimes missed key pictures because my slower performing flash card was still downloading images from the buffer and I couldn't use my camera. I see a huge performance difference with these new Ultra II cards, and I think that every professional and serious photographer will want to have them in their equipment bag."
Joe DiMaggio, an award-winning international photographer whose work has been published in more than 35 countries, said, "With the introduction of the SanDisk Ultra II cards, SanDisk has raised the bar and has taken the lead in the industry. This will become the standard by which all other flash cards will be judged. The increased speed of the Ultra II cards is going to make many professional and amateur photographers very happy. When I'm using the new 6.3 megapixel Canon 10D digital camera, for example, I need a card this fast to maximize the camera's performance
Because it shoots at three frames a second with a continuous burst rate of nine frames a second. The camera and the SanDisk Ultra II card are a perfect marriage." |

| Q. If I tell you the make and model can you confirm this product works with my device? |
(Posted: 16th Nov, 2004) |
A. If you are still unsure about whether a particular flash memory card works with your device/camera etc. then simply contact us at the bottom of the page using the enquiry form. Try and give us as much information as possible, for example the device name, model etc and what memory card you think it takes. We will confirm for you, 100% whether you are ordering the right product, and within 4-16 hours of your enquiry.
Remember that if you simply remove the existing memory card from the device, it should clearly indicate the type of card (e.g. SD or Compact Flash). If this is the case, then you can order ANY SIZE of this type of card, and it will work 100% guaranteed. |

| Q. How do I know this card works with my camera/phone/device? |
(Posted: 17th Nov, 2004) |
A. Easy! Check the existing card and see what is written on it. Then click on the category down the left hand side that matches your card.
You can choose any size of card, so even if your current card is only 128MB you can choose a 1GB card (1024MB) and it will be compatible.
Also, all the Ultra cards (these are faster versions) such as Ultra CompactFlash will also work with devices that currently use just CompactFlash (and the same applies to Ultra Secure Digital and Ultra Memory Stick).
The only exception is with MemoryStick. If your existing card is for example a 64MB MemoryStick, then you may also be able to take MemoryStick Pro (check the compatability tool below in this case).
There is also a compatability check tool at the sandisk site - you can click on the link below to choose your device:
Flash Memory Card Compatability Check
If you are still unsure, use our contact page to lodge a request and we will confirm the compatability normally that day. Remember too, that we offer a full 7 day money back guarantee for all orders. |
